NBA Playoff Preview Who’s Built for a Championship Run

April 17, 20263 min read

It’s that time of year again. The sun is shining, school is getting out, and the best two words in

sports are right around the corner Game 7.

The NBA playoffs bring out the stars and then some. LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin

Durant, Luka Dončić, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Victor Wembanyama, Cade Cunningham,

Jayson Tatum, Nikola Jokić, and Anthony Edwards the list goes on and on across both

conferences. But when it comes down to it, not every team is built to win it all.

Let’s break down the true contenders.

Out West, the first team that jumps out is the Oklahoma City Thunder. They are young, loaded,

and led by a superstar in Shai Gilgeous Alexander. This team has depth everywhere and plays

with confidence. As defending champs, they know what it takes, and they have a real shot to

Repeat.

Another surprising contender is the Detroit Pistons. Led by Cade Cunningham, who has taken a

massive leap into a top 10 player in the league, this team plays their role perfectly. Everything

runs through Cade, and the pieces around him fit. They are not just a feel good story anymore,

they are a real threat, especially in the East.

Speaking of the East, you cannot ignore the Boston Celtics. Fully healthy again, with Jayson

Tatum and Jaylen Brown leading the way, people forget they just won a championship in 2024.

This is still one of the deepest and most complete rosters in the league, and they know how to

win when it matters.

Now let’s talk about one of the most interesting teams the San Antonio Spurs. Led by Victor

Wembanyama, who is honestly just a freak of nature, they have climbed near the top of the

West. The talent is there with no question. But the big concern is no playoff experience at all.

Are they too young or are they about to shock everyone.

Then there is the Los Angeles Lakers. This team is all about star power. LeBron James

arguably the greatest player ever is still producing at an elite level at 41. Luka Dončić is playing

at an MVP level and can take over a game or even a series by himself. Add in Austin Reaves

another 20 plus point scorer and this team is dangerous.

The problem going in is health. Luka and Reaves are both dealing with injuries and could miss

time early in the playoffs. But if LeBron can hold things down and win a game or two and one of

those guys comes back the league should be worried. A healthy Lakers trio can beat anyone.

Finally the Denver Nuggets. It is simple they have Nikola Jokić. He is a top three player in the

world and already a champion. With Jamal Murray alongside him this team runs through Jokić

and feeds off his playmaking. They have been here before and that experience matters.

The Western Conference is going to be a battle. Oklahoma City might be the favorite but the

Spurs Lakers and Nuggets are all capable of making it a tough road. Nothing will come easy.

In the East Boston looks like the team to beat but do not sleep on Detroit. They are young

confident and playing with something to prove.

So the big questions heading into the playoffs does LeBron have one more run in him can OKC

repeat or will a new team rise to the moment.

We are about to find out.
